My husband and oldest son are big meat eaters. They love just about any type of meat I put in front of them. The Petit Jean Meats Dallas Cowboys Bacon & Ham was no exception. I have to say I could not wait for the UPS man to show up with the box so I could start reviewing it. The box arrived in excellent condition and since it was sent UPS overnight the ice pack was still cold, so was the meat!
See how well packed everything was? I have to say I am always a little afraid to order food on the internet. I have had some bad experiences before especially with fruit and chocolate. I've never had any type of meat delivered before so I didn't really know what to expect. But like I said everything was still cold. I pulled everything out of the box and being that I hadn't had breakfast yet I couldn't wait to cook some of the bacon and start sampling! Inside the box I found one package of each:

I bet you are now! Look at the thickness of the bacon! When I go to the grocery store I always opt for thick sliced bacon over regular sliced. Even the thick sliced bacon that I buy is not nearly this thick. To me the regular sliced is just to thin and it tears apart when your'e getting it out of the package. This bacon did not do that it stayed completely in tact.
First up I cooked the Hickory Smoked bacon. Being that I am a Southern girl frying is always my number one option when it comes to cooking bacon. I've heard of people baking it in the oven & putting it into the microwave but I always stick to the good ole' fashion frying pan. Probably not the healthiest option but hey you only live once :)
The bacon took only about 7 minutes to cook it thoroughly and get it nice and crispy the way I like it. It fried up nicely and when minimal grease popping. I can't tell you how many times I have been frying bacon and the hot grease hits me in the face or on the arm this really didn't do that.
I was too busy "taste testing" that I forgot to take a picture of it when I got done cooking.
After I got finished frying the hickory smoked I cooked a couple slices of the peppered bacon. I have to confess I have never tried peppered bacon. It's not because I don't like it I just don't buy it because of my kids. They complain that its too "hot".

The peppered bacon was good. I liked it but it wouldn't be something I would buy because like my kids say it is a little hot. However, my husband loved it. He liked just about anything that is spicy.
For dinner we had Waffles and the Hickory Smoked ham. We have breakfast for dinner at least a couple times a month and I figured this was the perfect time to do so. I heated the ham up in the skillet and let it get a little brown on each side.
Even the ham is nice and thick yum! I am one that likes super salty ham aka "country ham" like I said I am a Southern Girl. To me a good breakfast meat is nice and salty. However, this is not salty as all. Ok, it's a little salty but not what I am used to. I actually really, really liked it.
No fancy dinnerware here:)
My oldest son loves ham. He was my taste tester for this one. He liked it a lot he ate everything on his plate and wanted seconds of course!
Overall we really, really liked Petit Jeans Dallas Cowboys Bacon & Ham. Probably my favorite thing out of the whole set was the regular hickory smoked bacon. My husband liked the peppered ham which got eaten before I could even take any pictures of it. That's how much he liked it.
